My name is Ezra Genauer, and I am the President of an orthodox Jewish Day School located in Seattle. The Torah Day School of Seattle was founded 5 years ago and is growing steadily. The reason for my email is that the school is, thank g-d, growing and is working to establish a beit midrash (study hall) and library. We cannot however afford to purchase titles. The vast majority of our parent body is on scholarship so all fundraising dollars must be allocated to covering the cost of a dual curriculum education.
I wanted to inquire with you to see if you had any hebrew books, old or new, that you would consider donating to our school. We would be willing to cover the cost of having books shipped to us or would come pick them up in person. We would undertake sorting through whatever was sent to establish if it was suitable for our project and would deal with figuring out what to do with anything that was not suitable or that we already had. We hope to establish a large collection for use both by our students and staff and also the community at large here in Seattle. Our new beit midrash is actually named for the Genauer family, who has been a presence in the Seattle Jewish community since 1909, so there is a real legacy here that we are trying to continue.
Please let me know if this is something you might be able to help us with. Thank you in advance for your consideration,
Torah Day School of Seattle
