Education Services: The Teaching Legacy of Janusz Korczak
Location: SJCC-Mercer Island, 3801 E. Mercer Way
Janusz Korczak wore many hats–educator, author, doctor and peacemaker. But a large amount of his professional life was devoted to fighting for children’s rights. He believed children should be treated with the same respect as adults, and this belief permeated his daily interactions. How can we implement his important lessons for educators today? Learn about his life, his legacy and become part of the international Korczak movement.
Facilitator Tatyana Tsyrlina-Spady, PhD, teaches Comparative Education at Seattle Pacific University. She is from Kursk, Russia, where she founded a chapter of the Janusz Korczak Society and worked as a professor in the education department at Kursk State University.
