Purim election! Yes, it is odd that WIJC holds the one required yearly meeting and election on Purim, but hey, what is an election without a glass or two of wine and a sweet cookie?
If you’re getting these posts, you already know that WIJC is an entirely lay-led, volunteer fueled, low-budget non-profit organization that aims to connect Jewish islanders with each other and share information, with occassional holiday get togethers for holidays or practices. To increase the vibrancy of the Jewish community here on Whidbey, WIJC needs leadership and participation.
The nitty-gritty details:
-one meeting per year
-ability to plan events, write grants, host Shabbats, and organize Jewish events. WIJC has brought the UW Klezmer band to WICA, a hebrew class to the South end, and amassed over 20 Jews on the beach at sunrise for a once every 28 year holiday. The possibilities are wide open… Won’t you consider taking getting involved?
Board positions are available!
We will meet on Sunday, February 24th at 3:00 p.m. (on Purim) at the Bayview Cash Store Hub. There will be hamentashen, a chance for interested parties to learn more, and nominations and elections. Then, we can celebrate the election results at Bloom’s Winery for a drink to kick of the evening’s festivities.
