TENT: Encounters with Jewish Culture offers immersive, intense, free, week-long workshops for anyone, ages 21 to 30, who’s curious about the connections between Jewishness and modern culture.
Tent: Journalism will look toward the future of print and online journalism. We will learn about Jews who left their marks on American journalism, magazines, and publishing houses, as well as the history of Jewish newspapers in Eastern Europe and the US. Participants will attend workshops led by the writers, editors, and publishers who run these institutions today.
Participants will get the chance to sharpen their skills in practical workshops on newspaper editing and the publishing business. Throughout the week, you’ll learn tips from prominent players in journalism and publishing. The week of programs will build toward a proposal for a project that participants can pursue beyond Tent.
If required, lodging will be provided; most meals will be provided. Participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from New York City. For more information about this workshop, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
