Today is Rosh Chodesh Sivan (head of the month) and the 45th day of counting the Omer. Candle lighting time on South Whidbey is at 8:41. This week’s parsha is Nasso, covering Numbers 4:21-7:89.
Nasso contains the tale of Samson and Delilah. Interesting fact: Not only was hair cutting forbidden to Samson, but as a nazarite he was forbidden from drinking wine, wine mixed drinks, and wine vinegar- in addition to abstaining from eating fresh grapes, grape seeds, grape skins and raisins.
